Fraud/Scam Alert - Beware of Stimulus Check Scams

As the details of the next round of Economic Impact Payments are finalized, the IRS is warning about an increase in scams to steal your financial information. One example is of fraudsters sending a text message that reads: “You have received a direct deposit of $600 from COVID-19 TREAS FUND. Further action is required to accept this payment into your account.” It links to a fake site which mimics the IRS’s “Get My Payment” tool.

Don’t respond to the text or open the link. Instead, take a screen shot and e-mail it to the IRS at Make sure to include the date and time you received the text.

The problem with Identity Theft

Identity Theft is the fastest-growing crime in the United States. It can happen to anyone — regardless of how careful you are, regardless of your age and income, and regardless of where you live.

Victims of Identity Theft can experience problems with their credit, their finances, their employment, and even their personal assets. Trying to restore your identity on your own can be time-consuming, stressful and expensive — sometimes costing thousands of dollars.

We are here to help.
